Pregnant and Beautiful

Pregnancy and You

Pregnancy although a very exciting time can take its toll on your skin and body, your hormones go into overdrive and your body changes shape on a daily basis, because of all of these changes it is more important than ever during pregnancy, to think about number one (Yourself).

Taking control of your body and skin care before the birth of your child will make it so much easier for your body and skin to recover after your child has been welcomed into the world.

Pregnancy and Skin Care

In the first Trimester of your pregnancy, especially if you are prone to acne, or have oily skin. dry skin and discoloration of the skin can be a common occurence but in the process of treating your skin the safety of your unborn baby cannot be forgotten, a lot of products on the Market today can be harmful to unborn babies and some can even be a cause of miscarriage.

Facial Skin Care

Washing your face with soap and water is universal and it is no different when you are Pregnant, if you suffer from dry skin use a soap that is unperfumed, as perfumed soap can irritate your skin and dry it out even more.

After washing you should then apply a moisturiser, again if you have dry skin you should use an oil based moisturiser and if you have oily skin a water based moisturiser works best.

To prevent discoloration of the skin during pregnancy using a sunscreen of at least sun protection factor of 15 works wonders and is also a great moisturiser for your skin.

Drink plenty of water, drinking water keeps your skin and body hydrated and water gives your skin a healthy glow, A woman's blood volume increases dramatically during pregnancy, and drinking enough water each day can help prevent common problems such as dehydration and constipation.

Sleep is also an important factor of skin care during pregnancy, you working a lot harder when you are pregnant and you will tire more easily, if you fight sleep then your skin pallor will suffer, frequent naps and a good nights sleep works wonders.
Look for products containing sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil, olive oil and avocado oil.

Love Your Body

The most common problem with your body after the birth of your child is stretch marks, contrary to popular belief though your tummy is not the only place where stretch marks appear during pregnancy, the upper thighs, buttocks, breasts and even arms, depending the amount of weight gain, and whether or not you make an effort to prevent stretch marks .

Healthy eating during the course of your pregnancy is essential but it is also important to remember that your body needs at least 300 calories more than it normally needs because of the extra work the growing baby inside you creates, especially as the baby grows bigger inside you, If you're very thin, very active, or carrying more than one baby, you'll need even more. But if you're overweight, your health care provider may advise that you eat fewer extra calories.

Keeping to a wellbalanced diet, that keeps your weight gain within the recommended range of 25 to 35 pounds and having a controlled steady weight gain will allow your skin to stretch at a steady rate helping to prevent the onset of stretch marks.

Again Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate your skin and keep it healthy and glowing.

Moisturise your whole body not only your face, this helps prevent the skin from drying out and helps it to remain supple and more elastic.

You Are Beautiful

Every woman goes through a phase during pregnancy when they feel fat and ugly and they think that the man in their life will go off them.

As a man I would just like to say that nothing could be further from the truth.

There is nothing more beautiful on this earth than a pregnant woman, rather than seeing the fat ugly woman that you ladies seem to see in the mirror, men see a beautiful radient alluring woman with a healthy glowing skin surrounding their bodies and rather than go off you we are more attracted to you.
